Analytical laboratories commonly use high-performance liquid chromatography to separate creatine from creatinine and related impurities. Ion chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, and titration assays can also quantify the compound. Water content is measured by Karl Fischer titration or loss on drying, because the monohydrate has a defined theoretical water fraction. Particle size, bulk density, and flowability are physical properties that affect blending and capsule filling. These measurements support quality control and help verify that a lot matches its specification.
Regulatory status varies by country. In the United States, creatine monohydrate is sold as a dietary supplement ingredient, while in the European Union it is placed on the market as a food supplement component. Some jurisdictions have established purity monographs or permitted health claims, while others treat it as a novel food or require notification. Product labels may state the amount of creatine monohydrate or the equivalent creatine content, and the two figures can differ. Independent testing programs sometimes check identity, potency, and contaminant limits.
Creatine monohydrate is stable under dry, cool conditions but can degrade when exposed to moisture and heat. In solution, it undergoes hydrolysis to creatinine, a cyclic derivative with little role in phosphagen energy transfer. The rate of conversion increases with temperature, storage time, and acidic or alkaline pH. Solid material kept in a sealed container at room temperature generally retains its composition for extended periods. Moisture uptake is a primary concern because it can accelerate breakdown and caking.
Creatine monohydrate is sold as a dietary ingredient in some countries and as a food supplement in others. Regulatory frameworks vary, so purity limits, labeling rules, and permitted claims are not globally uniform. In the United States, it falls under dietary supplement rules, whereas the European Union treats it as a food supplement ingredient. Pharmacopeial monographs, where they exist, can provide public quality standards, but not every product is required to meet them. Questions about long-term effects and patterns of use remain areas of active study rather than settled regulatory findings.
Solid creatine monohydrate is generally stable when kept cool and dry, but it can hydrolyze to creatinine over time. Moisture, heat, and acidic conditions accelerate this conversion, which reduces assay values and changes the material's properties. Creatinine is a cyclic dehydration product that is also a normal human metabolite, so its presence in a sample is not necessarily a health concern by itself. In quality testing, creatinine is monitored as a marker of degradation and purity.

=== EC 7.2 Catalysing the translocation of inorganic cations and their chelates === This subclass contains translocases that transfer inorganic cations (metal cations). Based on the reaction they're linked to, EC 7.2 can be further classified into:
== Early modern period == In the 15th century, Catanzaro was exporting its silk cloth and its technical skills to neighbouring Sicily. By the middle of the century, silk spinning had achieved scale in Catanzaro. Catanzaro's silk industry supplied almost all of Europe and was sold at large fairs to Spanish, Venetian, Genoan, Florentine, and Dutch merchants. The city was famous for its manufacture of silks, velvets, damasks and brocades. In 1519, Emperor Charles V formally recognized the growth of Catanzaro's silk industry, allowing the city to establish a consulate of silk crafts, charged with regulating and controlling the various stages of a production that flourished throughout the 16th century. In 1442, the Aragonese took control under Alfonso V of Aragon who became ruler under the Crown of Aragon. In 1501 Calabria came under the control of Ferdinand II of Aragon, whose wife Queen Isabella of Castille is famed for sponsoring the first voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1492. Calabria suffered under Aragonese rule with heavy taxes, feuding landlords, starvation, and sickness. After a brief period in the early 1700s under the Habsburgs, Calabria came under the control of the Spanish Bourbons in 1735. During the 16th century Calabrian doctor and astronomer Luigi Lilio created the Gregorian calendar. In 1466, King Louis XI decided to develop a national silk industry in Lyon and employed many Italian workers, mainly from Calabria. The fame of the master weavers of Catanzaro spread throughout France. They were invited to Lyon to teach the techniques of weaving.
Ice-nine is a fictional material that appears in Kurt Vonnegut's 1963 novel Cat's Cradle. Ice-nine is described as a polymorph of ice which instead of melting at 0°C (32°F) melts at 45.8°C (114.4°F). When ice-nine comes into contact with liquid water below 45.8°C, it acts as a seed crystal and causes the solidification of the entire body of water, which quickly crystallizes as more ice-nine. As humans are 55-60% water, ice-nine kills nearly instantly when ingested or brought into contact with soft tissues exposed to the bloodstream, such as the eyes or lips. In the story, ice-nine is invented by Dr. Felix Hoenikker while working on the Manhattan Project in response to a suggestion from a Marine general, who complained about soldiers having to deal with mud on the battlefield. The project is abandoned when it becomes clear that any quantity of the substance would have the power to destroy all life on Earth. In the novel's climax, the Earth's oceans are accidentally frozen solid by ice-nine, prompting a doomsday scenario. Vonnegut encountered the idea of ice-nine while working at General Electric. He attributes the idea of ice-nine to his brother Bernard Vonnegut, who was researching the formation of ice crystals in the atmosphere. A later account of the events attributes the idea to the chemist Irving Langmuir, who devised the concept while helping H.G. Wells conceive ideas for stories. Vonnegut decided to adapt the idea into a story after Langmuir's death in 1957.
== Membrane composition as a metabolic pacemaker == Studies on the cell membranes of mammals and reptiles discovered that mammalian cell membranes are composed of a higher proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids (DHA, omega-3 fatty acid) than reptiles. Studies on bird fatty acid composition have noted similar proportions to mammals but with 1/3rd less omega-3 fatty acids as compared to omega-6 for a given body size. This fatty acid composition results in a more fluid cell membrane but also one that is permeable to various ions (H+ & Na+), resulting in cell membranes that are more costly to maintain. This maintenance cost has been argued to be one of the key causes for the high metabolic rates and concomitant warm-bloodedness of mammals and birds. However polyunsaturation of cell membranes may also occur in response to chronic cold temperatures as well. In fish increasingly cold environments lead to increasingly high cell membrane content of both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, to maintain greater membrane fluidity (and functionality) at the lower temperatures.
=== Cytoskeleton associated functions === CK1δ is involved in the regulation of microtubule polymerization and stability of the spindle apparatus and centrosomes during mitosis by directly phosphorylating α-, β-, and γ-tubulin. Additionally, CK1δ can also phosphorylate microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) thereby influencing their interaction with microtubules as well as microtubule dynamics.

In May 2023, Lula met with Cape Verde prime minister Ulisses Correia e Silva in Brasília. Correia e Silva said his country could play an important role in bringing Brazil closer to ECOWAS countries while Lula stated that "Brazil believes in a solidary, mutually beneficial South-South cooperation based on shared experiences" between countries with Africa being a top priority. Lula said that he intends to step up cooperation programmes with Cape Verde in education and agriculture areas and that he plans to visit at least two African countries in 2023, namely Cape Verde and South Africa, respectively for the 2023 CPLP Summit and the 15th BRICS summit. In July 2023, Lula visited Cape Verde and met with president José Maria Neves who greeted "Brazil's comeback to international forums". Lula said he wants to "recover the good and productive relations Brazil used to have with Africa", and expressed his desire to open more Brazilian embassies in African countries and to pay another visit to Cape Verde to attend to 2023 CPLP Summit.
== Antisense oligonucleotide development == Developments in ASO modification are separated into three generations. Generation one is called backbone-modified and focuses on the phosphodiester group of the nucleotide. This impacts inter-nucleotide binding. These modifications led to better distribution, reduced urinary excretion, and prolonged residence time of the ASOs in the cell. Some examples of first generation modifications include the addition of a phosphorothioate group (PS), methyl group, or nitrogen. The most common is the phosphorothioate group (PS) in which the oxygen atoms of a phosphodiester group are replaced with sulfur atoms, greatly improving efficacy and reducing degradation. Generation two is sugar-modified, focused on the ribose sugar of the nucleotide. This generation saw improved binding affinity while reducing degradation. Some examples of generation two modifications are the substitution of R group with morpholine group (MO) and the usage of phosphorodiamidate morpholino oligomer (PMO) and thiomorpholine oligomer (TMO) as linkages between the ribose sugar and phosphodiester group in the backbone. Generation three is nucleobase-modified, the least common type of modification. These modifications enhanced binding affinity and cell penetration while reducing degradation and off-target effects. Examples include the introduction of G-clamps, pseudoisocytosine, and the substitution of bases with amine, thione, halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, or alkynyl groups.

In 1986, DNA analysis was first used in a criminal investigation when police in the UK requested Alec Jeffreys of the University of Leicester to prove or disprove the involvement in a particular case of a suspect who claimed innocence in the matter. Although the suspect had already confessed to committing a recent rape-murder, he was denying any involvement in a similar crime committed three years earlier. Yet the details of the two cases were so alike that the police concluded both crimes had been committed by the same person. However, all charges against the suspect were dropped when Jeffreys' DNA testing exonerated the suspect—from both the earlier murder and the one to which he'd confessed. Further such DNA profiling led to positive identification of another suspect (Colin Pitchfork) who, in 1988, was found guilty of both rape-murders.
US-market models had round sealed-beam headlamps mounted in pill-shaped bezels fitting the original openings. The 1971 version was the first piston-powered Familia sold in the United States and arrived in two- and four-door forms alongside its rotary Mazda R100 coupé counterpart. It was replaced by the somewhat larger 808 (Grand Familia) the next year. The 1200 model returned for 1973 as the base-model economy Mazda. The company then focused on performance for the next two years, dropping the economy car. After the gas crisis they returned to the economy sector with the Mizer in 1976, a rebadged 808/818. === Appellate reversal === On October 24, 2011, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled in favor of Banki and reversed the sanctions charges against him. Judge Keenan's court-ordered Banki's release 10 days later on November 2, 2011. The appellate court ruled that Judge John F. Keenan had erred at trial; in denying Banki's defense request to instruct the jury on the law that specifically exempts family money as an exception to the sanctions law, permitting such transfers without the need for a license. The final appellate court brief stated: "Banki's conviction [on the sanctions charges] cannot stand". Prosecutors reopened the case to pursue a retrial in February 2012. However, after a few months of delay and the assignment of a new judge, the case was closed criminally with no option for future civil or criminal prosecution. Rather than pay for the high cost of a second criminal defense trial, Banki agreed to relinquish $710k of his assets. In exchange, prosecutors agreed that Banki was not guilty of the sanctions charges without going through a second trial and that they would end pursuing the case further in criminal or civil courts. The case was permanently closed on July 24, 2012. In the final court hearing, Banki's prison record was cleared. During the hearing, Banki said he had lived through "the darkest hours" of his life while in prison. "I watched my life pass me by. Those days will never be replaced". Judge Engelmayer in clearing Banki's prison record called him a "talented man, even brilliant". The judge also stated: ". . .

A sealed container at room temperature, away from moisture and direct heat, is suitable for most solid material. Keeping the lid closed limits water uptake and caking. Long-term storage in a refrigerator is not necessary if the powder remains dry.
Heat, moisture, and prolonged time in solution promote conversion to creatinine. The reaction is faster at higher temperatures and at pH values far from neutral. Dry powder is much more stable than dissolved material.
Common methods include high-performance liquid chromatography for creatine and creatinine, plus water-content analysis by Karl Fischer titration. Heavy metals, residual solvents, and microbial limits may also be tested. A specification may list total creatine content and impurity limits.
A sealed container kept at room temperature and away from moisture is typical. Heat and humidity promote conversion to creatinine and can reduce assay values. Long-term storage under dry conditions helps maintain the original crystalline form.
